Objections against two aspirants in the race to vie for various posts at the forthcoming Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) general election set for October 27, this year has been overruled.
The decision was reached by the TFF Election Committee which met under the Chairmanship of Hamidu Mbwezeleni to deliberate the objections lodged before them.
The committee overruled the objections on several grounds including lack of evidence, while another individual who filed the objection is not a TFF member.
According to a statement issued by the TFF Information Officer, Boniface Wambura, only legal TFF members including its affiliates, regional football associations, premier league clubs and elected TFF leaders were entitled to lodge such objections in accordance with Section 11 (3) of the federation’s regulations.
The objections were lodged against Wallace Karia, who is eying the Vice-President post and Vedastus Lufano who is contesting for an Executive Committee post.
Karia’s candidacy was being questioned by Shamsi Kazumari of Dar es Salaam, who claimed that the Chairman of Premier League Interim Committee had allegedly influenced the committee to enter into ‘vague’ long term TV rights deal with Azam FC, while knowing that their committee had no such mandate.
However, the committee quashed this objection because Kazumari is not a TFF member.
Lufano was being challenged for lack of pre-requisite five years leadership experience in football by Samwel Nyalla of Mwanza who, however, could not substantiate his claims in accordance with Section 11 (3) of the TFF regulations.
