Thika United set to drop Indeche and Odera ahead of next season

Kenya Premier League side, Thika United have dropped four players from their squad in an effort to arrest the plummet the Brookside- sponsored side encountered in the second half of the 2013 season—barely making it in the top eight by finishing seventh overall.

In a meeting held attended by the club management, Thika United technical bench, they resolved to drop Goalkeeper Lucas Indeche and two Liberian strikers Freeman Mulbah and Dweh Allison.

Former KCB and Gor Mahia forward Ezekiel Odera, who managed to score five goals for Thika United in the just ended KPL 2013 season will also be forced to look for a new club come 2014. “The players won’t be with us come next season and we are currently working on the finer details of their replacements now that the transfer window is officially open,” coach John Kamau stated.

“We are mostly concentrating on the goal keeping department and striking, where the team is targeting more proficient players to blend with our youthful talents and hopefully by New Year, the deals will be done.”

Indeche, the first choice goalkeeper at the side for almost three season, lost the confidence of his coach particularly in the just concluded season after a series of howlers which led to some heartbreaking results including a 4-1 thrashing by AFC Leopards.

Kamau disclosed that Thika will also be dropping two more players before resumption of training from the Christmas break on January 6 2014, and the Dutch trained tactician is hopeful all the targeted players will be in training by then.
