“The High Commission strives to promote investment, trade and tourism. We also encourage bilateral programs in the very important areas of humanitarian aid, education and health,” said Nkuruho in a recent interview after he presented his credentials to Governor-General of Australia Quentin Bryce at a meeting in Canberra.
The High Commission also provides consular services to Ugandans living in Australia and New Zealand.
Nkuruho formally working with Madhavani Group studied in Australia and worked for Australian Government for over 10 years.
“I am now working towards having a full High Commission being opened in Kampala. Australia Government a few years ago established honorary consul Office in Uganda with Patrick Bitature as the envoy.
From last year Australia has increased Uganda scholarships for Masters/PHD from 24 to 54, a big achievement. Australia has strong links with Uganda.
We need such relationships to promote investments and trade,” said Nkuruho citing an Australian Company’s involvement in the ongoing oil exploration in Uganda.
