Uganda: Insurance companies tipped on quality

The Governor Bank of Uganda, Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile has advised insurance companies to embrace professionalism.

Mutebile observed that modern and professional business management is important for companies that aim to compete across the globe.

“I want to assure all insurance players, brokers and stakeholders that efficiency and quality of service has now become a prerequisite for competitiveness,” said Mutebile.

He was addressing insurance stakeholders at Kabira Country Club in Kampala to celebrate GoldStar Insurance Company’s achievement of attaining the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9001:2008 certification.

“I urge the management of GoldStar Insurance to use this ISO 9001:2008 to influence public perceptions especially the expectations of the company’s customers and brokers in terms of quality and reliability of services,” advised Mutebile


“I hope this achievement by GoldStar will raise the bar for other insurance companies in Uganda,” said Mutebile.

Azim Tharani the GoldStar managing director, pledged to further improve service delivery so that clients get value for money.

“We are aware that insurance services have become inevitable for all Ugandans. We therefore want to emphasise quality and timely services,” explained Tharani.

Paul Kavuma, the chief operations officer at GoldStar noted that this international ISO standard will expose GoldStar to alternative markets.
