Uganda, South African army chiefs discuss security

Visiting South African Special Forces Commander, Brigade General Rudzani Maphwanya has held talks with the Chief of Defense Forces, General Edward Katumba Wamala.

The meeting took place at the ministry of defense headquarters, at Mbuya in Kampala. Brigadier General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Commander Special Forces Command also attended.

According to Capt. Edison Kwesiga, the spokesperson, Special Forces Command, the senior army officers extensively discussed regional security and military cooperation centering on Special Forces.

Uganda and South Africa have a history of military cooperation that dates back to the struggle against Apartheid.

The NRA (at the time) helped train ANC and PAC militants that were confronting the Apartheid system.

Brig. Gen. Maphwanya is accompanied by officers from the Special Forces of South Africa.
