Government delegation led by Vice-President Edward Sekandi is in Dallas Texas for Uganda North American Association (UNAA) convention taking place at Omni hotel.
The VP is set to address UNAA trade and investment forum today (Friday).
State minister for higher education Dr JC Muyingo addressed the Higher Education Initiative conference and invited Ugandans living in diaspora to invest in education which he said is still virgin area with a high return on investment.
Besides building schools, he said, they would make money in building hostels, clinics and shops around universities.
Muyingo was supported by academicians; Prof Venansious Baryamureba former Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Dr John Senyonyi of Christian University Mukono, Nyeko Kibwogi of Gulu University among others.
He said Uganda’s education system is best in region and second to South Africa in South of Sahara. The forum chaired by Dr Lillian Nuwagaba and Sam Muwanguzi was attended by academicians from Dallas University and other university in the U.S who shared with Ugandans their U.S experiences.
Others in attendance include several MPs and Ministers John Nasasira, John Byabagambi (state for works) and state minister for northern Uganda Rebecca Atengo.
Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Gen Mugisha Muntu addressed another meeting on politics in Uganda.
Artists Catherine Kusasira, Eddy Kenzo and Raggae Dee entertained the over 2,000 delegates.
