Ugandan national David Matsanga alleges plot to detain Uhuru, Ruto

KENYA: A Ugandan national Dr David Matsanga is alleging a plot by the ICC to detain President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Dr David Matsanga

Dr Matsanga, just like his Ugandan PresidentYoweri Museveni, sensationally claimed that theICC has put in place mechanisms that will see the two detained in The Hague when their criminal cases commence.

He told journalists in a Nairobi hotel, that the international court has already booked a five-star hotel for the two and requested the Dutch Government for extra security for their impending VIP guests.

Matsanga cited the setting up of two chambers byICC to hear Uhuru and Ruto cases.

“The question that begs is; if there will be no detention of Kenyans when Uhuru and Ruto appear at The Hague for concurrent trial of their cases why should owners of a luxurious hotel be told not to take outside clients from July until they clear with State apparatus in Netherlands?” he queried.

Dr Matsanga claimed that all it will take ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensuda to detain Uhuru, Ruto and Joshua Sang is to inform the court that she is ready to proceed with the two cases since there are two chambers.

And in that way, according to Matsanga, the three will have to attend the marathon hearing that may take almost two years, a situation likely to cause a constitutional crisis.

And on Thursday the controversial Matsanga added another twist to the plot; alleging that former chief prosecutor Louis Moreno Ocampo, former UN secretary general Koffi Annan and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s communications consultant Salim Lone had met a group of NGOs in London recently to plan the scheme.

However, in a quick rejoinder Mr Lone denied knowledge of any such sinister plot involving him.
