Police in Kajjansi are holding a woman accsued of burning her daughter’s private parts with paraffin.
The suspect, Alice Naiga of Kajjansi zone C, is accused of having doused her 9-year old daughter’s private parts with a burning piece of cloth she had doused in paraffin.
She is then reported to have sternly warned the girl not to tell anyone what had happened to her. As a result the scalds on the girl’s private parts turned septic and started rotting.
The victim told horrified police officers that on the fateful day her mother locked her up in the house and ordered her to sit spread-legged on the floor. She then doused a piece of cloth in paraffin and lit it with a match before burning her private parts, accusing her of being stubborn and unruly.
The victim’s father said he was not aware of the incident until one night when he heard his daughter crying in bed. He said he was shocked to see his daughter with septic wounds in her private parts.
He added that his wife could be have been seeing another man because at times she did not sleep home.
However Naiga pleaded that she had not intended to burn her daughter.
The Kajjansi police boss, Ibrahim Saiga, said Naiga face the wrath of the law. The case is registered on file number SD/02/21/07/2013.
