Nairobi, Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta Thursday urged teachers to heed the Industrial court’s order and resume work as unions negotiate with the government.

The strike is on its second week and other stakeholders fear it could affect the performance of students who are set to sit for their national examinations at the end of the year.
“Our challenges will not be solved by shouting at each other,” said Uhuru.
The court Monday directed teachers to report to work the following day, order which they failed to follow even after the AG warned against contempt of court.
Members of the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers ( Kuppet) started decamping to rival Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) claiming they have betrayed.
This is after Kuppet decided to abandon the nationwidestrike called to demand better terms for teachers and instead negotiate with the Government.
