The ultra modern, biggest and better sports stadium is coming up in the capital city Dodoma. President John Magufuli said the plan to it is in progress and construction to begin soon.
Addressing to the mass at Jamhuri Stadium in the city on the occasion of 53rd Anniversary of Union between Zanzibar and Tanganyika, the president added the plan is under good progress and the government is ready to kick start construction of the new sports complex.
King Mohamed VI of Morocco vowed in his visit to the country last October to be building an ultra modern stadium in the Tanzanian capital city and since then several of the Morocco companies have seen making agreements with private players.
The construction of new sports complex comes in such a time when the president is trying to push both people and services to Dodoma from Dar es Salaam.
The president added new stadium will be better than the current national stadium in Dar es Salaam and it will help in improving the sports segment in the country, particularly the soccer in the region.
Magufuli continued with the completion of the stadium the country will be able to host world events too like AFCON and CHAN.
The construction of new stadium will cost around $100 million.
The current stadium was largely funded by Chinese government.
Meanwhile, the occasion was marked with several activities including the attention puller martial art and acrobatic shows which were demonstrated by the commandos. Traditional and cultural dances were also some of the main attractions.
