The army has dismissed as ‘a bad lie’ claims going round that UPDF lost 250 soldiers.
Ankunda, who is currently in Bor, a strategic town that was on Saturday captured by South Sudan government forces with the help of UPDF, said on his twitter handle that: “That UPDF lost 250 men and tanks [the claim that three tanks of UPDF have been bombed] is just a bad lie. I am in Bor remember!”

Describing the town of Bor as “looted clean”, Ankunda said that “upon detecting the advancing UPDF, rebels simply scampered for dear life and left Bor – memories of an ambush that killed their commander.”
Ankunda also said that Ugandans living in Bor were happy to see UPDF.
“Trapped Ugandans in Bor breathe a sigh of relief as UPDF cuts off the town. Clearly, the town of Bor was looted clean. Thank God the looters have been chased,” he said.
Ankunda also said that the rebel leader, Riek Machar lost a key Brigadier in an ambush gone badly at Gemeza.
The Month long conflict in South Sudan started in December 15 after President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar fundamentally disagreed on how to rule South Sudan.
