Rovos Rail tourist train, one of the renowned luxury trains in Africa, has started its annual vintage trip from Cape Town in South Africa to reach destination Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
The train left on Monday from Victoria Falls and will take 15 days to reach East Africa. It is due to arrive Tanzania on Saturday after an epic journey of two weeks.
The luxury Rovos Rail tourist train will travel through South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia before reaching Tanzania.
The famous vintage train will take guests to the historic village of Matjiesfontein, which is in the diamond town of Kimberley, capital city of Pretoria and Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa.
Traveling through Botswana into Zimbabwe the guests will have an overnight stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel before crossing Zambezi River to Zambia. The train will thereafter join Tanzania Zambia Railway to reach Chisimba Falls. The guests will have enough time to enjoy a bush walk here.
Entering Tanzania border the train will descend into the Great Rift Valley and reach Mbeya city near Zambia border and thereafter to travel to the Southern Highlands’ attractive sites like the Great Rift Valley, Kipengere Ranges and Livingstone Mountains.
The vintage train will cover a total of 6,100 kilometers distance in the two-week time from Cape town to Dar es Salaam. It is an annual epic journey on a vintage Edwardian Train.
Rovos Rail is also called as the “Pride of Africa” and follows Cecil Rhode’s trails. It is an exciting journey and obviously a life-time ride for guests.
