LUWERO – A suspected robber who has been on the Luwero Police’s wanted list, was on Tuesday arrested wearing stolen knickers.
Francis Musuju, a resident of Luwero town, was arrested after midnight at Kinafam disco hall, along with 10 other people, suspected to be his accomplices.
The Police operation follows a wave of burglaries that have recently hit Luwero town.
Several residents have lost cash and property to burglars, who usually strike between 3:00am and 4:00am (local time) in the deep of the night.
Luwero criminal intelligence boss Christopher Gimei said, on seeing the Police storm the disco hall, Musuju fled, but was pursued and arrested.
Several women’s items, suspected to have been stolen, were recovered from his house. Gimei said as policemen frisked Musuju, they discovered that he was wearing knickers.
On Tuesday, the Police called residents who recently lost various property to go and find out if they were among those recovered during the operation.
A woman (names withheld), who said she recently lost her household property, claimed the knickers which the suspect was wearing were hers.
Gimei said Musuju would be taken to court and charged with theft.
