With only 13 functioning boreholes and nine shallow wells, the residents are seeking help from any well-wishers to construct more boreholes.
The Local Council III chairperson for Bukomero sub-county, Charles Katangole officiated at a commissioning of the borehole in Katera village.
The construction of the boreholes was funded by FUKUOKA (Uganda Friendship Association) in partnership with residents of Bukomero under their umbrella of Ugandans living in Japan founded by Livingstone Kyeyune.
Kyeyune, through the association, has mobilized funds and constructed six boreholes in Bukomera subcounty and one in Kireka in Luwero district.
Katongole called on the government and residents to come together and construct more boreholes to help the residents have access to clean water.
The borehole in Kireka and Katera will serve approximately 100 homes to have access to clean and safe water.
