The Cord coalition has said it cannot afford to lose one of its principals, Moses Wetang’ula. Speaking In Bungoma after taking Wetang’la to hand over his nominations papers to the IEBC, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said the jubilee government had used the judiciary to oust Wetang’ula in a bid to frustrate democracy.
Raila, who was addressing a rally at Posta grounds, said the jubilee government has become reckless and does not have the interest of Kenyans at heart. “Knowing very that Kalonzo and I are out, they are hell bent on a scheme to eliminate our remaining principal,” he said.
Raila said the court ruling that ousted Wetang’ula was suspect and he believes it was influenced by State House. He said the judge who made the ruling abused his powers. Raila said Bungoma voters will exonerate Wetang’ula.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka accused the Jubilee of failing to deliver their election promises to Kenyans. He said they government is wasting time trying to kill the opposition.
Kalonzo accused the government of destroying the diplomatic relations between Kenyan and other nations. “Let them carry their own cross at the ICC and stop making their personal problem the county’s problem,” he said.
Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale said the Jubilee government IS trying to turn the country into a one-party state “eliminating” brilliant leaders like Wetang’ula and himself.
“This government doesn’t want brilliant minds. It only wants those ‘yes’ men like Duale who it can control without a second thought,” he said. Siaya senator James Orengo said the Jubilee government is dictatorial and the most failed government the country has ever had.
Wetang’ula said Jubilee is sponsoring his opponents who he said will lose the byelection. “Whatever technique they use, I want to assure them that I will be right back in the senate,” he said. The rally was attended by more than 20 Cord MPs and senatorsin support of Wetang’ula.
