The committee headed by Engineer Justus Wabutura is supposed to finalise the report and submit it to the National Executive Council in two week’s time. The two MPs who allegedly campaigned for Prof Phillip Kaloki (Narc) are Mbooni Legislator Kisoi Munyao and his Kilome counterpart Regina Ndambuki.

Law allows

Wiper Chairman David Musila said the law allows them to reprimand, suspend or even expel an MP who openly defies his or her party. “The committee will take statements and get evidence if there is any. As for now we still treat the matter as an allegation,” Mr Musila said yesterday.

He spoke after a National Executive Committee meeting also attended by party Leader and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

At the height of the by-election in Makueni, the party received a number of complaints that the two legislators had declined to rally their support for Senator-elect Mutula Kilonzo Junior and were instead drumming up support for Mr Kaloki.

Speaking at Wiper headquarters in Nairobi, the party also vowed to stand by lawyer Kethi Kilonzo in the fraud charge the police are determined to prefer against her.

Musila termed the case victimisation against the family of the late Mutula Kilonzo after Kethi declined to run for the Makueni by-election under the Jubilee ticket.
