Before Senior Resident Magistrate Augustino Mbando, the businesswoman, a resident of Mbagala, was not allowed to enter any plea to the charge as her case will be tried by the High Court.

It will be heard by the lower court upon securing consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The case was adjourned to January 29, for mention.

Investigations, according to the prosecution, have not been completed. The accused person was returned to remand because bail could only be considered to her by the trial court.

Inspector of Police Hamis Said, for the prosecution, told the court that the accused person committed the offence in January, this year, at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Ilala District in the city.

The prosecution told the court further that the woman was found in possession of 875.46 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, valued at 39,395,700/-.

Similar efforts bore fruits in September last year following the arrest of Anthonia Ojo from Nigeria in possession of 99 dice of illegal drugs at the same airport.

The woman was arrested on her way to Rome Italy via Paris France by an Ethiopian Airways plane. She entered Tanzania on August 30, last year, from Nigeria.
