The District Education Officer, Mr Pantaleo Lwiza, listed the schools that would benefit from the aid as Nkende, Korotambe, Goron’ga, Manga and Nyaibara. He said the schools would get 216m/- for construction of three clasrooms, one teacher’s residential house and a latrine in each school.
He said a special team of World Bank officials visited the area recently and pledged to provide assistance. Mr Lwiza said the World Bank has also agreed to provide mobile libraries and electricity equipment.
“We salute the move by the World Bank due to the fact that most the schools are located in rural areas where access to electricity is limited,” he said.
The Nyamaraga ward councillor Antony Manga praised the move, saying most of ward schools lacked learning materials and equipment as well as relevant laboratories and libraries where most students fail to take in science subjects.
