Meet the next superstar of South Africa. She is 17-year-old Yanga, who snatched victory of SA Idols Season 14 from Thato in a dazzling performance. She has become the second consecutive teenage girl from Western Cape to be crowned with the title. She is now a millionaire with some awesome prize package including a car.
The first runner up Thato give Yanga a warm congratulatory hug and thanked South Africa for all the support that helped her reach to such height.
Yanga was shell-shocked when her name was announced as winner. She said, “I can’t put into words how I feel right now, but I can say it in song.”
The event night was one of the youngest, freshest and best finales in the history of SA Idols history pulling out all the stops to bring viewers of Mzansi Magic at the Big Top Arena a music spectacular.
The show kicked off with an Afro-futuristic group performance by the Top 10 participants of the season. DJ Black Coffee, DJ Tira ft. AKA, Okmalumkoolkat and others kept everyone on their feet.
AKA came back with a medley of Fela in Versace and Jika, with Plaak by Kid X and Vur Vai by Kwesta keeping the hip hop heads enthralled. Mlindo The Vocalist also graced the stage accompanied by Kwesta, Thabsie and Sfeesoh for Macala.
Paxton, the winner of SA Idol Season 13 performed her spicy single, Angifuni, which has views of more than one million on YouTube.
Director and Executive Producer, [sic] Entertainment Gavin Wratten, said: “Idols SA season 14 has beaten all our expectations; surpassing a 100 million votes is a landmark achievement for reality TV in this country.”
